CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Acrobatics

Ages 5 to 18 / Beginner through competitive levels available. Acrobatics increases flexibility, balance, strength, coordination and muscle control. Students gain confidence while learning tumbling skills. Mats are used while learning and practicing tricks for safety.


Ballet

Ages 5 to 18 / Beginner through competitive levels available. Students will develop a solid foundation of the fundamental techniques that span across all dance styles. Students practice traditional barre sequences, positions & alignments, and move fluidly across the floor. All TDSA students are encouraged to take ballet to learn basic terms, polish skills, and develop the bodily awareness that prevents injury.


Hip Hop

Ages 5 to 18 / Beginner & intermediate levels available. - A fun class for all students. These classes consist of upbeat street style dancing to age appropriate hip hop and pop music. Students explore freestyle, tackle basic tricks, and learn fun dance combinations.


Jazz

Ages 5 to 18 / Beginner through competitive levels available. A dynamic class full of big leaps, turns, and combinations. Students explore the exciting spirit of dance as they condition their body, increase familiarity of music & beats, and foster self-expression. All classes are held to popular age-appropriate music and classical jazz dance music.

Kinderdance

Ages 3 to 5 / Introductory level - Our littlest students explore creative movement through simple ballet and tap moves, while nurturing music appreciation, listening skills, and basic motor skills. Classes often incorporate props and themes - like princesses and knights, superheroes, magic wands, and more!

Lyrical/Contemporary/Modern

Ages 7 to 18 / beginner through competitive levels available. A compelling class for the inquisitive. This class explores self-discovery and the use of space. Students build technique, learn expressive dance combinations, and plunge into guided improvisation. This style combines technical elements of ballet and jazz while concentrating on freedom and fluidity of movement. The class utilizes slower yet powerful music.

Pointe

Ages 12 to 18. Advanced level. Must already have a foundation in ballet classes for multiple years and be approved by an instructor to go en pointe. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across the floor combinations. This class is for serious dancers who wish to bring their ballet training to the next level.

Tap

Ages 5 to 18 / Beginner through competitive levels available. Explore a fresh side of dance through percussion and rhythm. Students practice precision in footwork, learn the distinction of sounds, and develop a sense of teamwork as the class practices to sounds as one. Expect bustling feet, patterned claps, and lots of fun! Students tap in the center of the room and across the floor to short choreographed patterns. Tap shoes required.

Tiny Tumblers

Ages 3 to 4 / Introductory level - A spirited class for peppy youngsters who dream of cartwheels and handstands. Students develop listening skills and basic motor skills, while building strength, coordination and confidence as they master their first tumble! A few theme-based classes may be sprinkled in. Classes are held on mats for safety.
